Wagner 915 is a very good carpet cleaner. It also excels at removing wallpaper and performs all kinds of other cleaning functions as well. Most of these involve cleaning hard surfaces like tile and wood.
Rugs cannot be put in the washing machine and hung to dry, but they do get very dirty. Muddy shoes and spills leave their marks and become a breeding ground for bacteria and dust mites.
Carpet cleaners provide the solution.
A good carpet cleaner should
- Removes ingrained grime and grime,
- Eliminates stains and odors and
- Attacks and Kills Dust Mites and Bacteria
Carpet cleaning methods include:
- The “foam shampoo” method: Carpet shampoo machines foam a solution of water and chemicals onto carpet surfaces. A vacuum cleaner removes any dirt that remains after it has dried.
- The “Steam Clean” method: ‘Steam cleaners’ spray a solution of warm water and chemical cleaners on the carpets and use a vacuum action to suck up the dirty liquid that comes out of the carpets. They do not remove some dust mites and bacteria in the process. It is a misnomer in this case, as there is no steam involved at all in the processes used by these carpet cleaners.
The downsides are that
- You need a warm day to dry the carpets or they will get that horrible musty smell after a while and
- It also leaves a considerable amount of chemical residue.
Does the Wagner 915 do a better job cleaning carpets?
It does a good job using different methods.
The Wagner uses very little water and does not use any chemical cleaning agents. Steam is water and water is a solvent that dissolves dirt and grime or puts it in suspension in the cleaning process.
Steam cleaning is not a water-intensive washing process nor is it a shampoo foam method that cleans only the surface of the carpet.
Steam cleaning uses superheated pressurized steam to
- Penetrates deep into carpets,
- Removes dirt and grime
- Leave the carpets only slightly damp,
- Leaves no chemical residue and
- Sanitize carpets by removing dust mites and sub-surface bacteria.
This little machine uses entry-level methods that much larger steam cleaners use commercially. It does a good job as a home carpet cleaner and is an all-rounder that performs other functions as well.
