Reflections on Opening Day of Fantasy Baseball 2009

The opening day of the 2009 baseball season is in the books.

Now what have we learned?

As usual, player cable and recent trends indicate that big day 1 players have been quickly added by many owners against any common sense, ie: Emilio Bonifacio won’t always go 4-4 and slide 3, so don’t drop an arm and a leg to add him to your team.

Which brings us to point no. Tip #1: Check the calendar – it says April, so don’t panic.

Chris Davis went 0-4 on opening day, but he didn’t overreact. In the same way, Felipe López hit 2 home runs on opening day, but obviously it will not continue like this. Use some common sense in the first month of fantasy/baseball season. It’s early. Most of the throwing aces won’t be beaten like they were on Day 1, nor will some of these hitters be able to replicate what they did consistently. Don’t be too quick to drop anyone in April, and at the same time, don’t be too quick to add everyone who is hot in April, as they may disappear and leave you hanging.

Point #2: Pay attention

Now I just said not to react foolishly just based on the first week of games, however, it is important to be observant and aware of everything that happens in the league these first few weeks. While a player’s season won’t be made or broken that early, his role on the team or in the lineup could be, and this is where the value of the entire season can be found rather than just what’s on. fashion in april

Lastly (for now) Point #3: Cheer up!

Baseball is back, stats count, teams care, and so should you. Just like in real life, everyone has a fantasy team that could win, so back off and follow your guys and get ready for another round of fantasy baseball.
