Overcome pittakionophobia, fear of stickers, with hypnotherapy

The fear of stickers is a powerful phobia that affects many people around the world.

Like all phobias, it is essentially an anxiety disorder.

Simply put, people with this particular phobia experience varying degrees of anxiety when faced with stickers or stickers; Whether those decals are on fruits like apples, bananas, or kiwis, on plastic items, appliances, or on clothing, there’s little difference.

This phobia can make even the bravest person shudder in fear.

Perhaps the main reason this particular phobia is so underrecognized is because people suffering from this irrational fear have often developed a sense of abnormality or shame, mistakenly believing that only they have this particular problem.

Because of this, those who fear stickers or adhesive labels often feel foolish, become reluctant to discuss it with others, and therefore remain largely hidden.

In fact, in my clinical practice I have treated only two people for this particular phobia. Both were clients who had been successfully treated for other conditions and who mentioned, almost in passing, that they also suffered from a fear of stickers.

Once discovered, however, it is a fairly simple procedure to permanently eliminate fear and phobia.

The real problem, of course, is that most people with this debilitating phobia simply don’t know that effective treatment is available. The symptoms of a sticker phobia are similar to those of other phobias: increased heart rate, palpitations, dry mouth, shortness of breath, and even feeling dizzy or nauseous when exposed to the rationally benign stimulus from stickers or stickers. .

This phobia is so hidden that nowadays there seems to be no commonly accepted name because of the fear of stickers or adhesive labels. It just doesn’t currently appear on any phobia list.

However, I have coined a neologism, or a new word, for this phobia, based on proper linguistic rules, which I offer here.

The word “phobia” comes from the Greek word for “fear” and the rule is that any suffix attached to it must also be of Greek origin. (Although some phobia names contain Latin-derived suffixes, this is linguistically incorrect and has occurred simply because the physicians who coined the phobia name were more familiar with Latin than with Greek.)

The value of having a correct name for the irrational fear of stickers and decals is that sufferers of this phobia can find real relief in discovering that there is indeed a name for their secret fear and therefore can feel less abnormal and unique.

Having a correct name for any condition that disturbs us is a great step forward in finding the right treatment for it.

The name I offer is ‘pittakionophobia’.

At first this may seem a bit complicated, but in reality it is not. It is simply pronounced: pit-ak-ion-ophobia.

‘Pittakion’ is the Greek word for tag or ticket (in Latin it is ‘pittacium’) and thus, combined with ‘phobia’ pittakionophobia is the irrational fear of stickers or labels.

Causes of Pittakionophobia – Fear of stickers

The real causes of pittakionophobia are almost always found in the individual’s past.

Due to previous experience, the person’s subconscious has attached stickers or stickers with anxiety and danger.

Most of the time, this has happened in childhood or early teenage years, although in some cases it may have happened later in life.

Such an experience may have occurred directly, as a result of a traumatic experience that involved a sticker, for example, having one affixed to some part of the body, or even indirectly as a result of another person’s experience of fear that was observed by the person who then go on to develop the phobia.
