Marhaba Bahrain

Marhaba Bahrain

“Marhaba”, which means “welcome” in Arabic, will be the first word you hear when you arrive in Bahrain. The small island kingdom of Bahrain is known for its friendly and smiling people. Bahrain means two seas as it borders the Arabian Gulf and the Persian Gulf.

Located just north of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain is a place where culture meets modern life. The small but organized Bahrain International Airport is the usual gateway to this “Island of Golden Smiles”. London taxis, like taxis, are available at the airport and can be hired and transferred to the hotel of your choice without any hassle. It is ideally located outside of Manama’s busy city center where almost all business takes place.

Bahrain is known as a shopper’s paradise. The Manama Gold Suq is the main place for tourists. Handmade gold jewelry and ornaments can be purchased at bargain prices. The modern World Trade Center, the Seef Mall and the City Center are the places where tourists and expatriates converge to acquire the latest designs offered by the best designers in the fashion industry. Traditional handcrafted brass and other Arabic-inspired ornaments can be purchased at Manama Suq. The Chamber of Commerce often schedules “rebates” to attract more visitors to the cosmopolitan island.

The Bahrain National Museum, located near the Manama Causeway, will give visitors a brief history of ancient Bahrain. The ancient and unique Koran can be seen and admired in the Beit Al-Quran. The old Portuguese forts of Muharraq and Budaiya are testament to its colonial past. The island kingdom offers a long public park by the sea where visitors can leisurely walk to enjoy the sunrise and sunset. Traditional Arab boats called “dhows” are available to cruise the small shores of the islands.

Bahrain is at its best during spring and fall. Formula One racing is one of its attractions. Kings and royalties often grace the high-profile event. Week-long festivals are organized for the tourist. Fireworks and air shows are also organized. Private spas and accommodations are also available for the elite. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel offers Mediterranean-inspired private beachside villas where you can enjoy your stay. There is only one word to describe the hotel: luxury.

The Kingdom of Bahrain is the place where business meets pleasure. The city of Manama is the financial center of the Middle East. Reputable banks and investment houses had established a presence in the country.
