With rental methods like online DVD rental and pay-per-view, it seems almost old-fashioned to go to the rental store. But with all the different ways to get the latest movies, which is the best? Well, that depends on what’s important to you. Here are some of the different ways you can get the latest movies and the pros and cons of each.
Go to the rental shop
I guess it’s like they say, sometimes you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. It’s hard to change the old ways, especially when they work pretty well. If you want to catch a movie, there is always a rental store nearby that should have it available. You are allowed to keep it for a couple of days for a price of around $4.00. However, if that movie is late, you have to wait
some horrendous late fees (you’ll usually be charged an extra $4.00 as if you were renting the movie a second time – this gives you a couple of days to rewatch the movie before you’re charged again). For those who can’t shapeshift, renting from a store isn’t a bad option, but they should at least check out the other possibilities, like online DVD rental or pay-per-view, and see what they have. to offer.
Online DVD Rental
The new online DVD rental system has its advantages and disadvantages. This system is for avid movie fans. In this system, you usually don’t pay for each DVD, but pay a monthly fee for the DVD delivery service. With some plans as low as $9.99 a month with no late fees, you can have any DVD delivered to your door in one business day. When you’re done with that DVD, just send it
get another one again. This can be done as many times as you want in a month; however, there is usually a limit to how many DVDs you can have in your possession at one time (depending on how expensive your monthly plan is).
The biggest problem with online DVD rental is the wait. You have to plan at least a day in advance which movie you want to see, which means no movies on Friday nights. Also, you need to rent at least 2-3 movies a month for it to be more valuable than renting from your local movie store. If you watch a lot of movies and don’t mind the wait, online DVD rental may not be a bad option for you.

Pay-per-view has the benefit of “right now” that the online DVD rental system does not. With pay-per-view, whenever you decide you want to see a movie, just order it, sit back and watch it. Another benefit with pay-per-view
is that you don’t have to worry about scratched or skipped DVDs. Companies like I-Satellite offer 33 pay-per-view channels and 13 pay-per-view sports channels with prices as low as $1.99 to watch a movie. This is definitely a simpler way of doing things. However, you can start to accumulate money if you are an avid movie watcher. Also, with pay-per-view you don’t get access to the same “extra features” that you get with DVD.
With in-store movie rental, online DVD rental, and pay-per-view options, it’s definitely easy to get your movie one way or another. All three methods of getting current blockbusters have their pros and cons that you will have to decide on. Personally, I like the convenience of pay-per-view. No matter when I choose, I can sit back and watch the movie of my choice on a number of available pay-per-view channels. However, you will have to decide which method is best for you.
