Hotel tricks and marketing

Hotel tricks and marketing

It’s no secret that hotels need promotions and marketing to get their brand out there and win over new customers. Still, there are some hotels that go beyond the kind of regular advertising most people would expect. With that said, let’s take a look at some examples of hotels that have gone to various lengths to stand out from the crowd, all in the name of good marketing to attract people.

When it comes to tricks, there is always a city that comes directly to mind. That’s Las Vegas, also known as Sin City because of all the gambling and other things going on around The Strip and surrounding parts. The hotels in this city, from the grandiose ones with their own high-end casinos to the smaller motels, all have gimmicks that seek to entice the mesmerized visitor.

Caesar’s Palace perhaps best represents the sophisticated hotels of Las Vegas, with its Roman-themed landscaping and architecture and massive main water feature. The luxury hotel also has a Colosseum-inspired entertainment venue, among other secondary venues. Aptly named The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace, it has hosted the likes of Celine Dion, Bette Midler, Elton John and Cher.

On the opposite shore, there’s a 198-room establishment called the Donovan House, which has a sort of CIA theme. After all, the hotel is named after Major General William Joseph “Wild Bill” Donovan, who headed the US Office of Strategic Services. The OSS preceded the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which is why Donovan is recognized as the father of the CIA. The Donovan House theme includes wristwatch communicators for hotel staff and spiral cocoon showers, suggesting what secret agents are likely bathing in.

Another hotel marketing gimmick is the cheese-covered hotel room at the Washington Jefferson Hotel in New York City. To make a tourist attraction, the hotel manager hired an artist to completely embellish the room with 1,000 pounds of pure melted cheese. Yes, and it’s cheese sourced directly from the Swiss Cheese Foundation. Now that is a cheesy room.

We cross over to Europe in search of a terrifying and strange trick: the Vampire Room at the Propeller Island hotel in Berlin, Germany. As you can guess from the name, this room is probably best rented by the likes of Lestat or Edward Cullen. The room has a couple of coffins for people to sleep in, and there are even crosses carved into the coffin covers! If that’s not your thing, the hotel also has the Cage Room, where you can relax in the comforts of two elevated cages.

Around the world, there are many different hotels that offer different types of attractions and tricks. With so many hotels spread across the planet, it’s imperative to be able to come up with something unique to attract guests. It works for the hotel and it works for the guests who receive something extraordinary. The next time you book a hotel, see if you can find a themed one or one with uniquely designed rooms, so you get a pretty refreshing hotel experience.
